FAQs: Got Questions?

If you can’t find the answer you are seeking, please call us or email us.

1FAQs: When are your locations open?

We are open 365 days per year.

12 Noon – 9 pm

Holidays: 12 Noon – 4 pm

Holiday hours for the following: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Please note that for safety reasons, we occasionally are forced to close for extreme weather conditions. Check our Facebook page or our Twitter feed for updates.

2FAQs: How long is the wait?

We work hard to maintain one of the shortest wait times in the St. Louis area.

Wait times are usually less than 20 minutes. We have a TV in the lobby and a TV / DVD player in every room.

3FAQs: What do our services cost?

Each individual’s insurance is different and your co-pay is determined by your insurance carrier. If you have questions regarding your co-pay, we encourage you to contact your insurance provider. For those without insurance we offer simple, reasonable fees and flexible payment options.

4FAQs: What services do we offer?

We offer services similar to those at a pediatrician’s office, outside of regular working hours. After Hours Pediatric Urgent Care offers treatment of minor injuries and illness, lacerations, nebulizer treatments for asthmatic patients, and temporary casting and splinting for orthopedic injuries. Flu shots for children and their families are available during flu season and the center provides onsite laboratory testing for rapid flu, strep and mononucleosis. We are contracted with Quest Laboratory for daily routine or stat pick ups. We also consult with a facial plastic surgeon for lacerations on the face or as needed.

5FAQs: Are there any services we do NOT offer?

We believe it’s in the best interest of every child to see their home pediatrician at least once a year. To encourage this, we do not offer well-child visits, well-child immunizations or school/sports physicals.

A child’s bones are unique. Pediatric bone injuries should be addressed by a orthopedic specialist. Since insurance companies usually only allow one X-ray per incident. To save you unnecessary time and expense, we refer after office hour bone injuries to Mid-County Orthopedics.

6FAQs: What is the history of After Hours?

We’re parents too! Anyone who has worked in the medical field or has children of their own knows that there is a great need for children in this community to be seen by qualified professionals when their Pediatricians’ offices are closed. We opened After Hours in August 2001 to address this need. We are the only ‘after hours’ pediatric urgent care facility in the Greater St. Louis and St. Charles area, and the welcoming response from the community has been phenomenal.

Families are thrilled with the quality of care, the short waiting time and the low cost. They receive prompt evaluation and treatment. This may include medications or simply reassurance, thereby avoiding an expensive and time-intensive trip to the Emergency Room.

Our patients’ primary physicians are very satisfied by how efficiently we communicate with them, thus enabling them to maintain complete medical records. We have built both sites on positive referrals: not just from patients and their parents, but from the numerous pediatricians who refer their own patients here.
